Y Diary #5

I was going to stop writing Y diaries, but Jerome likes them so I will continue. This entry will be about my trip to the Y on Friday. I had the day off so I was able to go around 3pm. That is a great time to go. The fitness center was so empty. I had my choice of any machine I wanted.

I decided to go with the Elliptical since it seems to be the highest calorie burner. I easily went 45 minutes on that without even pausing. I was listening to talk radio talk about Michael Jackson while I watched four tvs closed captioning about Michael Jackson. Jeez. I was hoping to catch The Doctors on NBC. Hahaha.

I also went down the line of targeted area machines. I did some leg extensions, some arm extensions for my triceps, some sit up things on this one machine, the torso rotator, thigh adductor and abductor (or something like that), and whatever else I could find.

Then I went on a four mile bike ride. I think the trail was called Lost Trail. It was pretty good. It’s weird though because it always says I have a low heart rate, like 67 or something. Then it will jump to 140. I’m not sure what’s up with that.

After that I got into my swimsuit and took a cool shower. Then it was sauna time. There is a sign that says not to go in the sauna alone, but I did anyway. I took that opportunity to lay out on one of the benches. I read this wrinkled newspaper about Shaq coming to cleveland. Sweat was pouring down my forearms. Ew.

Then I showered off again and went into the pool. Fridays are awesome because there is open swim from 4-9:30pm. I swam laps for about twenty minutes, sometimes using a kickboard. Then I did some stretching that I learned from splash aerobics.

I’m willing to say that was my best Y workout thus far. I utilized so many different exercises. My muscles were still pretty sore up till yesterday. I’m going back tonight for aqua kickboxing so I’ll be updating on that soon.
